We Build the Tech
We steward open standards and build infrastructure so financial systems can connect once, and integrate with many.
We build the open infrastructure, fund the innovators, and shape the conditions that make it possible.
Financial systems were never made to work together. Different rules, different formats, and different ways of connecting - if they connect. For those running them, it's an operational nightmare. For everyone else, it means uncertainty, higher costs and denied opportunity.
Interledger is designed to change that: open infrastructure that lets financial systems connect, and a foundation committed to making that infrastructure available to everyone.
We steward open standards and build infrastructure so financial systems can connect once, and integrate with many.
We fund and connect those working to make digital financial services more open, accessible, and functional for everyone.
We work with regulators and institutions to create the conditions for open financial systems to operate and scale in practice.
The internet was built on open standards. Protocols that no single company owned, that anyone could build on, and that made global information exchange possible. In our connected world, money should move in the same way: reliably, across systems, as one network.
We call this the Internet of Opportunity: an open, interconnected financial infrastructure that creates opportunities for people, businesses and economies across the globe.
About usFrom early experiments to real-world systems, this is what progress looks like in practice.
Open standards only stay open if the organization behind them has no reason to close them. The Interledger Protocol and Open Payments are stewarded by a foundation with no commercial stake in either, no fees, no investors, and no business model that benefits from closing what was built openly. The standards exist for public benefit, and the Interledger Foundation was founded and structured to keep them that way.
